SERVICES
In the optic of having a commitment intent on answering in a increasingly suitable way to the territory growing needs, are active to this day:
- Medium/ short programmes, that envisage also pharmacologic administration reduction of methadone or other modalities to reduce the damage
- Residential programmes in methadone maintenance;

- Specific programmes for patients with psychiatric diagnosis and comorbility;
- Specific programmes for alcohol addiction;

- Reception of woman with children or in pregnancy;
|
- Quick reception of particularly urgent cases, recommended by the services, or persons with relevant legal or social problematic;

Still on the optic of a satisfying production of intervention plans, to the ordinary activities of ambulatory or residential management, and to the introduction of evermore differentiated programmes, were added intervention modalities of:
Social-working reintegration thanks to new collaborations with some B type social cooperatives;
Specialized training that has led Saman to be officially recognized, since 2002, as Educational Organization with the Ministry of Health;
Primary, secondary and tertiary prevention finalized to the internalization of behaviours and preventive conducts safeguarding personal health, learning and for a bigger consciousness of possible risk situations.

On the panorama of adapted innovative interventions some considerations can be shown, updated from the latest epidemiologic researches concerning the increase and diversification of psychoactive substances use. Regarding the historic framework in which we were used to operate, we have seen in recent years a quick diffusion of new substances and consumption styles and the increasing complexity of the traditional addictions caused by appearance of related pathologies (AIDS, HIV, etc.) and of psychiatric disturbances ( double diagnosis, sociopatie, etc).

The proliferation of a always bigger quantity and variety of substances and related use modalities, require an increase in expertise and capacity to offer solutions, find answers as much articulate and diverse in the Association Scientific Direction entrusted to Prof. Luigi Cancrini, in the operative personnel constituted of numerous and diversified professional figures and voluntary personnel, collaboration start-up with University Institutes for training and research projects, in conformity with how much is scheduled in the Regional Sate Agreement for the auxiliary organization / enti ausiliari.

Today the association also operates at international level. Is has been active for more than four years in Mozambique, with a support project on AIDS/HIV awareness, information and prevention activities in high marginality areas in suburban areas of the capital Maputo, conducted in partnership with Regione Emilia Romagna as the founder institution. From 2004, has also promoted the “Mille cene per Maputo” initiative with the scope of found collecting through the organization of dinners and giving back to Saman Mozambique, local partner of Saman Association, for the constitution of a reception house “Saman House” intended for street children of Maputo.
