SERVICE’S VALUE AND MISSION

Born in 2000, the community SAMAN “LE RECHERCHE” is operative in Capitanata territory for the recovery and social reinsertion of people with problems related to drug, psychotropic substances and alcohol addiction.

The service is directed indistinctly to: people of both sexes of the national territory and foreigners with permit of stay, all those who manifest psychological problems ascribed to the psychiatric sphere, given that the centre offers a service for people with double diagnosis, multi-treated individuals, in reduction substitutive pharmacological treatment, with alternative measures to prison.

Location

The community is located in Apriscena territory in the GarganoNational park, in FoggiaProvince. The structure is arranged in three floors and is composed of offices, services, infirmary, bed rooms for the hosts, TV room, laundry, storeroom, meditation room, laboratory and a room to use as gymnasium.

It is surrounded by perimeter green spaces used as vegetables garden and gardens.

Typology of the people received:

n° 20 places for people with drug addiction;

n° 10 places for people with psychiatric comorbility.

30% of places in convention with the Ministry of Justice for people in probation held in trust of the Social Services.

PROCEDURE FOR PSYCHIATRIC COMORBILITY

For people with psychiatric comorbility, contacts should be established with the sending services, in particular with the reception centre and the CIM to agree with a structured project and, simultaneously with the host, define the therapeutic program in which the family should also be engaged. Each person, at his entrance, as well as for others who follow a different program, is entrusted to a psychologist for weekly colloquiums and to an operator that will follow him in the therapeutic period and in the educative project. Everyone can usufruct of psychiatric consultancy to better define pharmacologic therapy dosage to take or to reduce depending on presenting needs. The psychiatric monitoring is of daily cadence.

The introduction of a person in the different community contexts and settings happens gradually, based on his possibilities, to his resources and depending on the registered improvements, even if it is reasonable to invite him to feel participative and operative to enter in the community environment and to leave the one interiorized on the clinic, hospital or on the street.

The contacts with the family can be more frequent, since the first months. After an adequate permanence period in the centre of Apriscena, once the achieved objectives are ascertained, if the host wants and if opportune, he can be transferred to other Saman centres to go forward on his therapeutic program.

The therapeutic work with psychiatric comorbility considers, apart from the project of following the addiction conditions, also the remission of the symptoms ascribed to the psychiatric sphere.

The supervision of psychiatric comorbility patients is constantly followed by Saman scientific direction headed by Professor Luigi Cancrini.
